CHICAGO (CBS) — The first snow of the season will move into the Chicago area on Thursday. The big question is how much snowfall you can expect in your region. The latest forecast shows that 2 to 3 centimeters of snow is possible with this system.
A winter weather advice will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The snow will last at least until noon before turning into a cold afternoon rain.
Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected across the area on Thursday.
Higher snow totals of more than 3 inches are expected for areas in Northwest Indiana near Gary, Valparaiso and Rensselaer.
Snow will mainly accumulate on grass and cold surfaces such as cars, with lighter amounts expected near the immediate coastline.
