The Dutch authorities would arrest Israeli Netanyahu

Dutch authorities will arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he enters Dutch territory, Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp told parliament in The Hague.

The Netherlands, as a party to the Rome Statute establishing the International Criminal Court (ICC), would execute the arrest warrant issued by the court in The Hague, Veldkamp said.

The same applied to former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas military chief Mohammad Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, better known as Mohammed Deif, Veldkamp said. The ICC has also issued arrest warrants against them.

The ICC issued the arrest warrants based on alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Gaza Strip since October 8, 2023.

Parties to the Rome Statute are obliged to carry out arrests ordered by the ICC.
