Several people were injured when Hezbollah fired 165 rockets into Israel

Sirens sounded across Israel and several people were injured on Sunday in rocket attacks from Lebanon, the Israeli army said, as the Lebanese army recorded another fatality from an Israeli strike.

It said around 165 rockets were fired by the Iran-linked Hezbollah militia, forcing civilians to take shelter in central and northern Israel, including in Tel Aviv.

According to the military, about 30 rockets were fired at the coastal city of Haifa and the western Galilee region within minutes, some of which were intercepted.

Several people were reportedly injured in the attacks.

The attacks took place a day after an Israeli airstrike in Beirut killed at least 20 people.

Israel and Hezbollah have repeatedly exchanged fire since the attacks of October 7, 2023. Israel launched a ground offensive in September to drive the militia out of southern Lebanon.

Also on Sunday, the Lebanese army said one of its soldiers was killed and 18 others injured in an Israeli attack on a military center in southern Lebanon.

The army added in a statement on social media platform X that the attack targeted the outpost in the al-Amiriya area near the coastal city of Tyre.

The military did not specify the nature of the attack but said the site was heavily damaged as a result.

The Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that the post had come under Israeli artillery shelling and that the depots caught fire as a result.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

The Lebanese army remains neutral in the ongoing war between Israel and Hezbollah, but has recently found itself in the crossfire.

Several Lebanese soldiers have been killed since fighting between Hezbollah and Israel intensified in September.
