Webber will participate in the Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism next month

Nov. 27 – Mayor Alan Webber will join more than 200 other municipal leaders in the fourth annual Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism in December.

Webber will join mayors of cities across the country at the summit in Beverly Hills, California, including San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, Miami Mayor Francisco Suarez, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, Kansas City Mayor Mo. Quinton Lewis and others, according to a Wednesday news release from the Combat Antisemitism Movement.

“Anti-Semitism is an urgent and growing threat that endangers not only Jewish communities but also the fundamental values ​​of our diverse and democratic society, and mayors have a unique ability to proactively confront Jew-hatred at the local level, where it is felt most acutely. ,” according to the summit website. “Here’s why [the movement] has prioritized building an international network of mayors to jointly combat the world’s oldest hatred with a city-centric approach.”

The summit is scheduled for December 11-13. Participants will discuss policies and best practices to combat anti-Semitism at the local level.

Webber has denounced anti-Semitism in the past and used his platform as mayor to advocate for other causes at the national level, including stricter gun control measures and support for immigrants and refugees.
