Former Camarillo mayor and city councilman Mike Morgan has died in a car crash that seriously injured his wife, the city announced Wednesday.
“Mike Morgan has served our community for many years, both in an elected capacity and in various non-profit and church-related activities,” said a statement from the City of Camarillo on X.
He was elected to the City Council in 1980 and served six terms as the city’s mayor, officials noted.
“He has made significant contributions to our city through his leadership and dedication to Camarillo,” the statement said.
Morgan was born in Texas in 1947 before moving to Camarillo in 1961. He graduated from Camarillo High School before attending Ventura College and eventually Cal State University, Long Beach, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He subsequently earned a master’s degree from the University of Southern California.
“We are saddened to learn of a tragic car accident yesterday resulting in the death of former city councilor and mayor Mike Morgan and serious injuries to his wife Donna,” said a statement from current Mayor Tony Trembley. “On behalf of the City Council and the entire city staff, please keep Mike and Donna Morgan and their family in your thoughts and prayers.”
