Black Friday was one of them coldest nights this fall season in Philadelphia. In Center City on Friday evening there is a long line of people wanting to get a hot drink Christmas village in LOVE Park was proof that the cold weather took some getting used to.
“I made some choices by putting on a little leather jacket, which I regretted, so I knew right away that I had to buy a hot drink,” Virginia Mindkiff said.
Those who decided to visit the Christmas Village knew that a warm coat and scarf were also essential as they braved the cold to enjoy everything the holiday market had to offer.
“I’ve been here many times wishing I had a few more layers on and so we all made sure we started the day right, with each layer keeping us warm, otherwise you can’t enjoy it as much, said Tom Bader.
“Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready,” Ryan Serrano said.
Serrano made sure he was prepared. He said he wouldn’t underestimate the cold weather.
“The weather is bad here. When you get to the wind tunnel in downtown Center City, it gets freezing,” Serrano said.
But the people CBS News Philadelphia spoke to said despite the cold, being outside was definitely worth it. Some people say that seeing a bustling downtown during the holidays gives them a warm feeling.
“Honestly, we were really cold when we got here, but now it’s like, we’re here. And…I’m not cold at all, so it’s perfect,” Mandy Rainey said.
