Voting is underway in the Ohio Department of Transportation’s annual Paint-the-Plow contest. Schools in Northern Ohio, including two in the Alliance area, have custom painted the snow plows. Voting for the favorite of the entries started on Facebook on Monday and ends on December 9 at 3 p.m. Participants decorated snow plows with igloos, mascots and other holiday references. Many also feature road-friendly slogans, such as “Don’t be a crasher” or “Don’t rush into ice or slush.” Twenty-nine schools – including Alliance High School and Minerva Elementary School – submitted designs from ODOT’s District 4, which includes Ashtabula, Mahoning, Portage, Stark, Summit and Trumbull counties. Votes are counted on Facebook. Each ‘like’ on a post counts as one vote. Voting closes on December 9 at 3 p.m
