Holiday travelers fly home with few problems, but the commute was difficult

No major problems for people flying into Boston on Sunday evening after Thanksgiving.

The bigger problem was the traffic going in and out of Logan Airport to pick up people.

“My friends are coming to pick me up and we only live 20 minutes away, but it’s about 40 minutes away, so I’m sure the traffic is hitting them,” said Tolu Adewumi, who flew in from Atlanta.

On one of the busiest travel days of the year, it took many people double the time to get to the airport, but within Logan it went smoothly for most travelers.

“I think it was easy to get everywhere, it was easy to get through security, a lot of people had to check their bags at the counter,” said Sadie Friedman, who flew to Boston on Sunday.

Fortunately, most travelers here were not affected by the New York State snowstorm.

“I’m actually from upstate New York, near Syracuse, and yeah, it’s going to be pretty bad, but luckily there were no delays,” said Preston Ogunwumi, who flew in from Greensboro, NC.

Airports were still packed with long lines at security checkpoints.

Massport had extra staff working over the holiday weekend to handle the crowds.

“When I came here I expected a lot more craziness, but I left on Monday so I think I was before the crowds, which was good. The return to the Atlanta airport is always hectic, but we still made it,” Adewumi said.

This is a development story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
