(CBS-DETROIT) – Big changes are in store for Southeast Michigan on Wednesday and Thursday as a new clipper system will bring more cold air and snow.

This fast-moving low-pressure system, originating from Canada, will bring strong winds and cold air, as well as some accumulating snow, through the middle of the week.

The latest models indicate 1-2 inches for Wayne, Washtenaw, Lenawee and Monroe counties Thursday morning. One to three inches of snow is possible for Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Lapeer, St. Clair and Sanilac counties.

Snow will fall in some periods from Wednesday afternoon.

The concern is that snow showers will continue into Wednesday evening.

Snow showers quickly reduce visibility on roads and are a combination of rapid snowfall and high winds.

We could see an inch or two of strong winds leading to near whiteout conditions after sunset Wednesday.

Most of the accumulation will end Thursday morning.

Wind gusts will reach 45 miles per hour on Thursday, causing wind chills to reach the single digits on Thursday morning.

The maximums will only reach 30 on Thursday and Friday. There will be a gradual warming into the mid 40s next Monday.
