Woman fatally stabbed in Des Plaines: police

An autopsy conducted Saturday confirmed that a woman found with multiple stab wounds in northwest suburban Des Plaines died as a result of a homicide, authorities said.

Des Plaines Police responded to the 1400 block of Ashland Avenue on Thursday just before 9:30 p.m. for reports of a stabbing. Officers found the unidentified 50-year-old woman in the hallway of an apartment building with multiple stab wounds, police said.

Officers provided first aid to the woman until paramedics arrived and took her to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she died early Friday morning.

The autopsy confirmed that the woman died of multiple sharp force injuries, and her death was ruled a homicide.

Police said preliminary information suggested the stabbing was an isolated incident and that there was “no threat to the community.” An investigation is underway, police said.
