A pizza delivery man was hospitalized late Saturday night in the Elmwood Park section of Philadelphia after being robbed and shot.
Philadelphia Police Inspector DF Pace said the driver was making a delivery in the 6700 block of Paschall Avenue on December 7 just before 11:30 p.m. when four young men approached his car and stole the pizza and money, then stabbed him in the groin shots.
Pace said the driver was able to drive himself to the nearby 12th Precinct to report the incident and was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. The driver was seriously injured but is currently in stable condition, police said.
When officers went to the shooting scene to investigate, they found two men walking with boxes of pizza, Pace said. After being questioned, police were led to the 2200 block of Bonnaffon Street, where they found two other people in an abandoned home.
The four suspects were ages 14, 16, 18 and 19, Pace said, and were taken into custody. The firearm believed to have been used against the driver was found at the scene.
Pace said it appears the four young people set up the delivery man to deliberately rob him.
