West Bridgewater woman seriously injures driver, pushes car into Stoughton building

A West Bridgewater woman is facing several charges after she allegedly crashed into another car in Stoughton Monday afternoon, pushing the other vehicle into a building and seriously injuring the driver inside.

Erin McElroy, 44, was arrested and charged with malicious damage to property, negligence in operating a motor vehicle and disturbing the peace after police responded to a two-car crash on Canton Street on Monday around 3:45 p.m.

Stoughton police say McElroy rear-ended another car and pushed the vehicle into a building.

Immediately after the crash, McElroy exited her vehicle and began hitting the other vehicle involved several times with a metal pipe, Stoughton police say.

The driver of the vehicle that was pushed into the building suffered serious injuries and was taken to Boston Medical Center.

McElroy was also evaluated at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She will be booked upon release from the hospital, Stoughton police say.

She is expected to appear in court in Stoughton on Tuesday.
