Jackknifed semi causing heavy traffic on I-71 south north of Columbus; heavy delays reported

A semi-truck with a jackknife on southbound Interstate 71 caused significant traffic delays north of Columbus Tuesday afternoon.

A Columbus police dispatcher said the incident involving the lone semi happened around 12:18 p.m. at I-71 and Polaris Parkway. Initially, no injuries were reported, but the truck driver later requested medical treatment, the dispatcher said.

An Ohio Department of Transportation traffic camera shows traffic on Lewis Center Road following a half-block on southbound Interstate 71.

As of 1:15 p.m., some lanes of southbound I-71 had reopened and traffic was starting to move, the dispatcher said.

A live traffic map from the Ohio Department of Transportation showed a 50-minute delay north of the crash site.
