4 Delaware River Toll Bridges, Including Route 1 Morrisville-Trenton, Stop Accepting Cash

The Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1) Bridge will no longer accept cash beginning January 12 at 11 p.m. It is one of four bridges connecting Pennsylvania and New Jersey where, starting in January, tolls can only be paid with E-ZPass or Toll By Plate. , the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) announced on December 6.

The Interstate 80 bridge at Delaware Water Gap, Interstate 78 and Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) are also making the transition.

More than 80% of drivers already use E-ZPass or Toll By Plate on each of these bridges, the DRJTBC said, including 82% on I-80.

The same change was made in June at the New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202), Portland-Columbia (Routes 611/46/94) and Milford-Montague (Route 206) bridges. The Scudder Falls (I-295) Bridge in Yardley has been defunded since transitioning from a free bridge to a toll bridge in 2019.

How much is the Delaware River Bridge toll?

The E-ZPass fare for motorcycles, cars, SUVs and light trucks is $1.50.

The Toll By Plate fee is $3 “due to the inherently higher costs of billing and payment processing” compared to E-ZPass, according to the DRJTBC.
