After Buffalo Sabers forward Ryan McLeod won a faceoff in the defensive zone following the penalty kill, Power tried to clear the puck. New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox easily kept the puck, and Mika Zibanejad quickly scored.

During the first intermission of the game, legend Wayne Gretzky called out Power for sloppy play.
Here’s what The Great One said to Power about the piece:
“All I’m saying is, the man wins the face-off, Power has to get the puck out. That’s why you lose. There’s no excuse for that puck not to come out. On your strong side. 220 pounds. 6-foot-1 .That puck has to go into the ice.”
It’s hard to disagree with Gretzky’s assessment, as Power’s poor play led to a goal for the Rangers. Plus, Power was benched afterward, so head coach Lindy Ruff clearly wasn’t happy about it either.

However, Power redeemed himself when he got another chance to play later in the match. With five minutes left in the third period, Power scored with an excellent snipe past Rangers netminder Igor Shesterkin.
