The latest product from the ever-expanding alliance between Toyota and Suzuki will premiere at the Brussels Motor Show in January.
The 4,285 mm long Urban Cruiser resembles the Suzuki eVX concept and the new series-production e Vitara and is an SUV with front or all-wheel drive. It will be exported to Toyota Motor Europe markets from Suzuki’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat.
TME points to a choice of battery packs of 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with the new model offering an electric alternative to the existing Yaris Cross Hybrid in the B/C segment.
One or two motors and up to 300 Nm
The e-Vitara and Urban Cruiser share not only a 2,700 mm wheelbase and architecture (Suzuki’s new Heartect-e), but also a production line.
In FWD form there is a 106 kW motor for cars with the 49 kWh battery and a 128 kW motor if the 61 kWh battery is specified. The torque is 189 Nm for both. The power of the AWD Urban Cruiser is 135 kW and 300 Nm, with the second motor placed on the rear axle.
Sales are expected to begin in the third quarter of next year in the European left- and right-hand drive markets.
