It’s not surprising that the Buffalo Sabers let Victor Olofsson hit the free agent market last offseason. This was after he was the subject of trade rumors all season and had just 15 points in 51 games. From there, he signed a one-year contract worth $1.075 million with the Vegas Golden Knights.

Although Olofsson had to miss a year with the Sabers in the 2023-24 season, he has had a great start to his tenure with the Golden Knights. In eleven games with the Pacific Division club, he scored seven goals and nine points.
Olofsson was notably absent from mid-October to late November, but has not slowed down since returning from injury. The 29-year-old is currently on a three-game winning streak, with four of those wins in that span. This includes a two-goal night in his last game against the Minnesota Wild on December 15.

Clearly, Olofsson was overdue for a change of scenery before leaving the Sabres. Now he returns to Vegas and is proving to be an excellent signing for them.
