Bellingham K9 team arrests suspect with sword after domestic violence violation

Bellingham Police arrested a suspect on a misdemeanor warrant following a violation of a domestic violence protection order in Bellingham.

On Monday around 10 p.m., Bellingham Police Department officers responded to a call about a Domestic Violence Protection Order violation.

According to police, the suspect punched the protected person’s windows.

Police then discovered that the suspect had two active warrants for domestic violence.

When police arrived, they saw the suspect on a bicycle in the apartment parking lot.

The suspect dropped the bicycle and started running.

The officers called for a K9 unit and monitored the area until they arrived.

The K9 team searched the apartment complex, into the woods, down a path and into another apartment complex before K9 Stella alerted the officer.

The K9 officer found the suspect hiding under a car and arrested him.

Police said they found a small sword on the suspect.
