Jason Kelce had a series of reactions to a Jason Kelce look-alike contest in Philadelphia last weekend.
“News flash: every overweight white man with a beard looks exactly like me. What are we talking about?” the retired Philadelphia Eagle center joked as he and his new ESPN colleagues watched footage of the Dec. 16 game on “Monday Night Football Countdown.”
“It’s an easy competition,” Jason Kelce continued. “There is absolutely nothing unique about these gentlemen, except that they are large people with beards and fair skin.”
Dozens of bearded men in Eagles green showed up for the game. Some took off their shirts to show off their bellies, just as Jason Kelce did after his brother, Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce, scored a touchdown during the Chiefs’ January 2024 winning playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.
“You know exactly why they do that,” Jason Kelce said. “Sometimes when you’re enjoying a few drinks and it’s cold outside…”
Although Jason Kelce initially downplayed the idea of the competition, he eventually admitted that some of the participants looked a lot like him.
“That guy is spot on,” he said, pointing to a bushy-faced man in a sweater. “That’s my new profile picture.”
Before the competition, Jason Kelce’s wife, Kylie Kelce, shared a few tips about her husband’s appearance to potential competitors.
“You have to have a strong forehead,” she told listeners of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast on Dec. 14. She also said there is a “misconception” about “the extent” of her husband’s beard. “It’s quite short, it’s not incredibly thick,” she explained.
Kylie Kelce, who is expecting baby No. 4 with her husband, also suggested that the contestants should try to capture her husband’s style. “Go for a chunky sweater,” she said, suggesting a handful of other ideas, including velor tracksuits.
As for shoes, she added, “I know it’s winter in Philadelphia, but let’s be honest: flip-flops. If you want to get involved, do it.”
Jason Kelce isn’t the only celebrity to be honored with a look-alike contest in recent weeks.
Actor Timothée Chalamet made headlines in October when he crashed his own look-alike contest in New York City.
The following month, hundreds of men who resembled “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White gathered in Chicago for a look-alike contest with a $50 prize.
