Four family members, two adults and two children, were found dead Tuesday in a Milpitas apartment in an incident that police said was “isolated.”
Police said officers were dispatched to the Turing Apartments at 1355 McCandless Drive for a welfare check just before 9 p.m. Officers entered the apartment and found a woman, a man and two young children “with obvious signs of death.”
Milbrae Police Lt. Tyler Jamison said at a news conference Wednesday afternoon that the family’s welfare check was conducted after other family members reported they had not spoken to their loved ones in several days.
“We do not specifically know the names of the individuals or their relationships, but detectives are still trying to piece that information together,” Jamison said.
All four were pronounced dead at the scene, Jamison said. He did not elaborate on the condition of the bodies and said the cause of death and identity would be released by the Santa Clara County coroner’s office.
Earlier Wednesday, a police press release stated that based on all available information, it appeared to be an isolated incident with no danger to the public.
Jamison said the department offered condolences to the families of the deceased and said it would provide support to the officers who responded to the scene.
‘It’s a very difficult incident for everyone, I mean, especially for the family. We expressed our deepest condolences to the family. Officers are exposed to these tragic incidents every day and we want to make sure they get the right information. necessary resources they need to navigate these challenges,” Jamison said.
Jamison said no previous police calls had been recorded to the address.
The investigation was ongoing and police said the department would share relevant information as the investigation progresses and that it is appropriate to do so.
