A 28-year-old Augusta man was recently arrested in connection with a murder last April Fool’s Day – one of three shootings that occurred within 24 hours.
Dominique Beal was charged Friday with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Makel Jones, 19, was taken to Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center and was pronounced dead by the time RCSO officers responded to a shots fired emergency call, injuring one person just before midnight on Monday, April 1, in the 2000 block of Bolt Drive, near Jenkins-White Elementary School.
Beal is being held at Augusta’s Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
