Marlon Humphrey says he wasn’t taunting at the end of his pick six

After Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey had an interception in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s win over the Ravens and started before the end zonehe appeared to taunt a Steelers player by holding the ball toward him.

It wasn’t marked. He could be fined.

After the game, Humphrey did his best to avoid making an involuntary contribution to the league’s penalty fund.

I want to make this pretty clearHumphrey told reporters. “When I was running with the football, I saw it [linebacker] David Ojabo, a great teammate of mine, and I tried to pitch him the football. So some people said to me that it was like taunting or something. But I tried to pitch him the football and there was no mocking at all. I just want to make that very clear.”

Both can be true. Initially it looks like he is holding the ball towards Ojabo. He then pulls it back before aiming it at Steelers receiver Calvin Austin III.

So yeah, it seems to be a mockery. He should have gotten a flag. We will know on Saturday if not sooner whether he has been fined.
