A multi-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Thomasville Road near Royal Oaks Drive left one person dead and traffic gridlocked in northeast Tallahassee.
The crash was labeled “a major incident” by the Florida Highway Patrol, which issued an alert noting that the northbound lanes on US 319 were closed near Royal Oaks Drive at 2:30 p.m.
Tallahassee police said officers were called to the multi-vehicle traffic accident at 12:20 p.m.
“Unfortunately, one occupant, an adult male, succumbed to his injuries,” TPD wrote in a traffic advisory on social media. “Traffic Homicide Detectives are currently on scene conducting an investigation.”
“Motorists are urged to avoid the area. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
