The clerk who was shot at a discount store in Santa Paula in mid-December has died, police said Sunday.
Police Chief Don Aguilar said Georges Touma, 50, of Ventura, succumbed to his injuries Saturday morning at the Ventura County Medical Center. He had been in critical condition since the shooting at the Thomas 99 Cent Plus Store on Harvard Boulevard, police said.
No arrest has been announced.
Detectives are seeking the public’s help in obtaining additional information, including surveillance video in connection with the shooting reported shortly before 6 p.m. on December 11.
The police are focusing on witnesses on the boulevard, including witnesses in the area around the store and in surrounding neighborhoods before, during and after the incident.
