Christmas is just around the corner and many businesses and government buildings will be closed for the holiday. This may affect your waste and recycling collection.
Here’s what you need to know about the trash collection schedule for the upcoming holidays.
When will my trash be picked up the week of Christmas in Indianapolis?
There will be no waste and recycling collection at Christmas.
According to Indy.gov, trash, heavy waste and recycling pickups will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week after Christmas.
Christmas is Wednesday December 25, so for residents who normally have their waste or recycling collected on Wednesday, it will be collected next Thursday.
The other days of the week will follow. This means that the waste is collected on Thursday on Friday and that the waste on Friday is collected on Saturday. This is to catch up on everything so that next week’s schedule can return to normal. This is called a slide schedule.
