Resort operators in Metro Detroit are looking for suspected thieves and vandals

Commerce Township’s winter wonderland Glenlore Trails is on the hunt for a gang of vacationing Grinches who allegedly stole and destroyed the wooded area.

“Does anyone happen to recognize this face?” a Facebook post Tuesday from the Glenlore Trails account mentioned a black-and-white surveillance image. “He and his friends decided to visit on Sunday morning to damage, steal and cause destruction.”

The company added that it has sent “multiple video feeds … to the Oakland Police Department.”

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Started in 2020, Glenore Trails is a mile-long, gentle forest hike that attracts about 100,000 visitors a year, according to the Commerce Township couple who manage it.

“Very disheartening when your small business is the target of vandalism and theft,” Glenore Trails said in his post. “Our team spends countless hours battling the elements to keep this community experience fully operational.”

The trail will remain open for the remainder of the planned season, the Facebook post said. General admission tickets cost $25.
