Louisville weather | Gusty winds, ‘spring-like’ conditions, followed by cooler temperatures

Hold on to your hats, it will be breezy for most of Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a wind advisory is in effect for the Louisville metro area, as well as most of Kentucky, until 7 p.m.

“A strong low-pressure system will bring gusty and westerly winds to our region today,” the weather service said in a Facebook post. “Peak gusts can occasionally reach a range of 40 to 55 km per hour.”

The weather service advised residents to secure loose outdoor items, including Christmas decorations, and be aware that small tree limbs and weak trees could fall.

As of 2 p.m., there were some reports of power outages spread across Jefferson County, with most of them in northeastern Louisville. LG&E estimated that 1,190 customers in Jefferson County were without power.

The advisory comes after Louisville received moderate to heavy rain at times on Friday and Saturday. The weather service declared the weather pattern to be “spring-like,” with highs in the 60s.
