Photos from Los Angeles show the catastrophic extent of the destruction as the flames burn uncontrollably

Wildfires in Los Angeles continued to burn largely out of control Thursday, with at least five fires fueled by dry conditions and high winds.

At least five people have died as a result of the fires. More than 100,000 people have been forced to evacuate as the Palisades, Eaton and Sunset fires, among others, burn tens of thousands of acres in densely populated areas.

Photos of the disaster capture the apocalyptic scale of the destruction and the heartbreak left as a result.
