A $20,000 reward has been offered for information that will help investigators locate a person of interest in the case fatal shooting of a Lynwood woman in September.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officers were dispatched to the 12500 block of Oak Street around 5:40 a.m. on September 15 after learning of shots fired in the area, a statement said at the time.
They arrived to find the victim, 40-year-old Irene Gonzales, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body, officers said. Further investigation revealed that she was likely shot hours earlier around 1:55 a.m., according to the statement.
“Video evidence showed that the suspect vehicle, a black 2014-2018 Toyota Corolla with four doors and a sunroof, drove along Long Beach Boulevard before turning west on Euclid Avenue and then onto Oak Street, where it stopped in the middle of the street .” LASD’s statement said.
Gonzalez got out of the car and was shot moments later, officers said. She collapsed on the sidewalk, where she was later found dead.
Investigators have not yet revealed a motive or the relationship between Gonzalez and the suspect.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has offered a $20,000 reward for any information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.
“She left behind two children,” said Gladys Rodriguez, a friend of Gonzalez. “Some cruel person just took her from them.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the LASD Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
