According to Oconomowoc police, a train collided with a vehicle in Oconomowoc Friday afternoon, injuring the driver.
At 12:54 p.m., Oconomowoc police were notified that a train had struck a vehicle at the railroad crossing near Summit Avenue at Main Street, according to a department news release.
Oconomowoc police arrived on scene – along with the Western Lakes Fire Department and emergency medical services. The driver of the car was injured and taken to a local hospital. It is not known how serious the driver’s injuries are.
Police said two other vehicles were damaged in the crash. The occupants of those vehicles were not injured.
The train involved in the incident was a Canadian Pacific freight train, police said. There were no injuries on board the train.
The Wisconsin State Patrol and Canadian Pacific Railway Police also responded.
The incident happened about three months after a cyclist, Peter Roschtscha, was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Oconomowoc on August 20.
According to police, the circumstances leading to Friday’s accident are currently being investigated. Canadian Pacific is cooperating with police on the investigation.
