A cooperative of farmers just purchased stores in Meridian and Nampa. What it plans for them

A century-old farmer’s cooperative just acquired its first stores in the Boise area.

Valley Wide Cooperative says it has purchased the two Legacy Feed & Fuel stores in Meridian and Nampa. The stores sell agricultural machinery, power tools, garden supplies, animal feed and fuel.

Valley Wide, based in Nampa, has more than 100 locations in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming, with most in southern Idaho and eastern Washington. Founded in 1920, the cooperative says it already served Treasure Valley farmers’ needs for propane, agronomy and refined fuels.

“The addition of farm stores marks an exciting chapter for us,” said Dave Holtom, CEO of Valley Wide Cooperative, in a news release. “They are a testament to our commitment to providing our customers with a complete range of services and products in one convenient location.”

The Meridian store, at 3100 S. Meridian Road, has been in business for more than 15 years. The Nampa store opened in 2018 at 9065 Booker Lane. The stores were owned by Simon Vander Woude, the Idaho Press previously reported.

A Valley Wide spokesperson said by phone that all Legacy employees were offered the opportunity to continue their employment with the co-op. Most plan to stay.

The spokesperson cannot say how many employees work at the stores. Valley Wide is hiring.
