Oct. 7 – A Dayton man charged with more than 100 counts of child sexual abuse has reached a plea agreement.

Zachary Copp, 22, pleaded guilty to 60 counts of obscenity involving a minor, according to the plea agreement filed Sept. 26 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

As part of the agreement, Copp will receive a one-year prison sentence, followed by up to five years of probation, and will be required to register as a Level II sex offender. He will have to register every 180 days for 25 years.

Normally, the charges can include a fine of up to $5,000 and jail terms of six to 18 months for each charge.

All other charges filed were dismissed as part of the agreement.

Dayton police began investigating Copp after receiving a referral from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which said Copp’s phone was used to upload child sexual abuse material to the Verizon cloud, it said Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

None of the images were believed to be children Copp knew and were downloaded, the prosecutor’s office said.

Copp is currently out of custody at the Montgomery County Jail and is scheduled to be sentenced on October 24.
