Detectives with the San Bernardino Police Department are investigating a death in San Bernardino this weekend in which the victim was stabbed and mauled by several dogs.

They were called to the 900 block of E. Highland Avenue on Sunday around 5:20 p.m. after receiving a request for assistance from the San Bernardino County Fire Department, according to a police statement.

Officers arrived at Perris Hill Park and found a homeless man living in an encampment in the area suffering from suspected stab wounds and dog bites.

Paramedics rushed the man to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His exact cause of death has not yet been released.

Officers say 10 dogs were arrested at the scene. It is unclear how many people were involved in the mauling.

No further information was provided.

Anyone with information is asked to contact SBPD at (909) 388-5619.
