DEARBORN, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) – Dearborn police have arrested a 29-year-old man accused of entering a home last weekend and assaulting the homeowner.
Kwame Lewis Jones of Dearborn was arrested after attacking the victim Saturday, according to police. He is charged with first-degree residential burglary, assault with intent to do bodily harm less than murder, and assault and battery.
Police were called to the 22000 block of Cleveland Street around 12:15 a.m. for a report of a residential burglary. Jones reportedly paced back and forth outside the home before walking inside and confronting the homeowner, wrapping his hands around their necks.
The homeowner was able to escape with minor injuries. Witnesses reported seeing Jones running from the home.
Investigation revealed that he had assaulted another person earlier that day while they were filling a tire.
Jones was arraigned Monday and received a $50,000 cash bond with a GPS tether.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for Nov. 13.
“Acts of violence and invasion of personal property will not be tolerated in our city. I am grateful for the vigilance and assistance of the community that directly assisted the Dearborn Police Department in bringing this dangerous individual to justice,” said Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin.
