The fire broke out at the Studio City home but spread to nearby homes and brush Wednesday evening.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said the fire started at a four-story home at 3656 N. Sunswept Dr. at about 8:52 p.m.

It engulfed the house and spread to nearby brush and jumped to neighboring houses. Firefighters went on the defensive to contain the spread and prevent expansion into more vegetation.

The fire destroyed the posts under one of the houses, causing it to collapse on the hillside. Embers continued to fly onto nearby brush as crews attempted to quickly douse them with water.

LAFD dispatched more than 50 firefighters who extinguished the fire within two hours. Crews reported zero injuries immediately following the knockdown.
