The crew of the world’s largest cruise ship, the Icon of the Seas, was called to battle a fire this week as the giant ship was docked in a port in Mexico.

The “small fire” was “quickly extinguished” after it broke out Tuesday, a spokesperson for the cruise line, Royal Caribbean, confirmed to CNN Travel. The cruise line said there were no injuries and that the overall impact on board was “minimal.”

The record-breaking Icon of the Seas – which is almost 350 meters long and weighs 250,800 gross tons – was docked in Costa Maya, Mexico when the incident occurred. The ship briefly lost power, but backup power was immediately activated.

The Royal Caribbean spokesperson confirmed that the crew had the fire under control and explained that all crew members are trained to handle such situations.

During the incident, announcements on board alerted passengers to what was happening, the cruise line said. Social media users in an Icon of the Seas Facebook group spoke of a minor disruption to their day, but operations quickly returned to normal.

The $2 billion Icon of the Seas made headlines when the ship launched earlier this year, with its seven pools, including a record-breaking 17,000-square-foot water park. The ship’s current route has not been affected by the fire and the ship is now en route to the Mexican island of Cozumel.

In March, a fire broke out on a Carnival Cruise Lines ship, leaving a passenger’s footage of the ship’s tail on fire.

Speaking to CNN Travel, a Royal Caribbean spokesperson said small fires are “not common, but not uncommon” on cruise ships, but are usually handled quickly and with minimal disruption to passengers.
