WARSAW, Poland (AP) —
The foreign ministers of Poland, Germany, France and Italy discuss the intensification of European military support to Ukraine as well as future ties with the United States under the presidency of Donald Trump.
Trump says he expects Europe to step up efforts for its own defense in light of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
On Tuesday, the German Annalena Baerbock, the French Jean-Noel Barrot, the Italian Antonio Tajani and the Polish Radek Sikorski will meet in Warsaw. The British and Spanish foreign ministers will participate remotely.
Also present is Kaja Kallas, the new head of EU diplomacy.
The meeting’s host, Sikorski, has said it was prompted by Russia’s intensified missile attacks on neighboring Ukraine as well as Trump’s victory in the US presidential election and the changes in transatlantic relations this could bring .
