A Bridgeport resident has claimed a second Mega Millions prize worth $1,000,500 from the June 21 drawing, the Texas Lottery said. The winning ticket was purchased at Raceway #6973, 101 U.S. 380 in Bridgeport.

The lucky winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn, 3-18-27-40-44, but missed out on the Mega Ball number, 19. The ticket also included an additional $500 win.

Mega Millions is played by selecting five numbers from a field of 70 and one Mega Ball number from a field of 25. The jackpot is won by matching all six numbers drawn, including the Mega Ball. Although the Bridgeport resident did not win the jackpot, matching all five white ball numbers resulted in a substantial prize.

The current starting jackpot for Mega Millions is $20 million, with a second prize (Match 5+0) of $1 million. By opting into the Megaplier feature, players can multiply their non-jackpot winnings by up to five times.

The Texas Lottery has been a major source of revenue and prizes since its inception in 1992, according to a lottery news release. To date, it has generated more than $39 billion in revenue for the state and distributed more than $87 billion in prizes to lottery players. Since 1997, the Texas Lottery has contributed more than $33.2 billion to the Foundation School Fund, which supports public education in Texas. In addition, certain revenues benefit state programs, including the Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. Since 2009, more than $241 million has been contributed to programs that support veterans in Texas.

Mega Millions drawings are broadcast every Tuesday and Friday at 10:12 p.m. CT. For more information, visit the Texas Lottery on social media or at texaslottery.com.
