A manhunt is underway for four inmates who escaped from a South Carolina prison, SLED says

The search is on for four inmates who escaped from a jail Tuesday morning, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

The men were being held at the Chesterfield County Detention Center, SLED said in a news release.

Emanuel Robson Planco, Anton Conway Bennett, Kyonne Marquise McLeod and De’Shawn Malik Fox are the escapees, according to the release.

Information about how they escaped was not available.

SLED said it is assisting the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office in the search for the men wanted on escape and other charges.

Fox was arrested May 17 on third-degree assault and battery by mob charges and was held in jail after his bond was set at $5,000, Chesterfield County court records show.

Information about why Bennett, McLeod and Planco were being held in jail was not available, but court records show both Bennett and McLeod have been arrested multiple times over the past 12 years.

Anyone who sees the escaped prisoners is warned not to approach them, SLED said. Instead, they are asked to call 911. If anyone has information on the whereabouts of the escaped inmates, they are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 843-287-0235.
