(CBS-DETROIT) – A Michigan man, 42, was allegedly caught driving under the influence after stealing a car at an Alaska airport, where he also broke into other vehicles, police said.

Kiril Johnson, 42, of Michigan, was arrested for driving under the influence and first-degree vehicular theft on Seward Highway.

On June 1 at 8:19 p.m., Alaska state troopers were notified that a stolen car was traveling south from Portage to the Kenai Peninsula.

Troopers and a U.S. Forest Service officer stopped the vehicle and discovered Johnson was under the influence of controlled substances.

Further investigation revealed that Johnson allegedly traveled to Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport and retrieved the vehicle from the airport parking lot. They also determined that Johnson “probably broke into additional vehicles at the airport.”

According to police, Johnson tried to pay his bail with someone else’s credit card the day after his arrest.

Johnson was subsequently remanded on charges of first-degree criminal impersonation, attempted fraudulent use of an access device and attempted second-degree theft.

Anchorage Airport and Whittier police learned that Johnson had broken into vehicles at the airport, taken someone’s credit card and used them at the airport and at other businesses. Those police agencies will look for additional criminal cases.
