CHP issued a serious traffic alert Tuesday afternoon for a multi-vehicle crash that blocked multiple southbound lanes of US Highway 101 in San Francisco.
The injury collision was reported just north of Cesar Chavez St. in San Francisco shortly before 1:30 p.m., involving one overturned vehicle. The injuries were characterized as mild to moderate, CHP said.
Initially, southbound lanes #2-4 were blocked. CHP and emergency services are on site and tow trucks are on their way to assist in clearing the roadway. A short time later, lane #2 reopened.
Traffic was already backed up southbound, all the way back to Treasure Island on the Bay Bridge.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes, such as southbound I-280, to avoid the area. All lanes reopened around 2:15 p.m., CHP said.
