Police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his father and hospitalizing his mother after their Pomona mobile home went up in flames Tuesday night.
According to the Pomona Police Department, officers and firefighters responded to the neighborhood in the 1700 block of East Mission Boulevard around 10:24 p.m. The house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived and firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze at 1:45 a.m. the next morning, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters found the suspect’s father dead inside the home, police said. Detectives said the suspect walked into the mobile home and made statements about wanting to kill his parents. His mother escaped before the flames started.
Shortly before 1 a.m., firefighters were transported to medical care. Footage from the scene shows a person on a stretcher being placed into an ambulance by paramedics.
The agency has not released the suspect’s name. The police arrested him for murder and booked him in jail.
