A 27-year-old Pennsylvania man wanted for an armed robbery at a North Plainfield gas station in 2023 has been taken into custody, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office announced.
Elijah Nunnally, of Allentown, was extradited from Pennsylvania to New Jersey on May 30 by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Task Force. Nunnally was booked into the Lehigh County Jail on an unrelated matter, the prosecutor’s office said.
On September 30, 2023 at approximately 4:50 a.m., North Plainfield Police Department officers responded to a gas station on Route 22 for a report of an armed robbery in which the attendant said an unknown man pointed a gun and demanded money. According to the prosecutor’s office, the clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect before he fled.
Detectives from the North Plainfield Police Department and detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to investigate the incident and Nunnally was identified as the suspect, the prosecutor’s office said.
The following week, Nunnally was charged with armed robbery in the first degree, possession of a firearm in the second degree for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon in the third degree.
Nunnally is being held in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
