A Chester County teen is on his mission to give back to his community.
Ahead of the festive season, Dom Pecora starts his mornings bright and early at his shop Dom Fixes Bikes in Malvern. He and a handful of volunteers plan to do this on Tuesday and Wednesday deliver early Christmas gifts for deserving children and adults.
“We have four moving vans that will deliver over 150 bicycles,” Pecora said.
Dom’s first stop is to take three bikes to a family whose father is celebrating his sobriety.
“We are donating three bicycles to his children and surprising him with a bicycle as well,” Pecora said.
Pecora started collecting bicycles when he was 10 years old, after begging his parents to buy him an expensive mountain bike. After raising money and repairing bicycles at home, he started his nonprofit.
He believes everyone should have access to a bike, and this holiday season Pecora has collected bikes, helmets and even pajamas to donate to local families.
“I’m feeling good this morning. I’m just ready to get these bikes out,” Pecora said Tuesday.
Pecora was also nominated and screened Time Magazine’s “Kid of the Year” list for 2024.
