A Scranton man is facing felony and other charges after police say he held a lighter in one hand, a fuel pump in the other and threatened to blow up Turkey Hill on Providence Road.
City police responded to the case Tuesday and arrested Nathan Daniel Reid, 38, of 826 Capouse Ave., Apartment 4, who was taken to the ground by some employees before police arrived.
One of those employees, store manager Alejandro Castro, told police he was working inside when he saw Reid sitting outside with both a fuel pump and a lighter in his hand. Castro instructed a co-worker, Ronald Garcia, to turn off the fuel pumps because Reid “had threatened to blow up the store,” police wrote in charging documents.
Before Castro and Garcia subdued him, Reid waved at them and continued to threaten to blow up the business if they came closer, police said.
Reid was read his Miranda rights but refused to speak to police at the scene. He was eventually taken to the Scranton Police Department.
Reid faces misdemeanor charges of risking catastrophe, misdemeanors, disorderly conduct and making terroristic threats.
He remains in Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail and awaits a preliminary hearing tentatively scheduled for December 3.
