Today’s weather
Sunday marks a milder end to the weekend as temperatures climb into the low 50s for many. After a mainly cloudy morning we will see a mix of sun and clouds in the afternoon.
It will be chilly with a westerly wind of 10 to 20 km/hour.
Tonight it will remain quiet under a mostly to partly clear sky. Lows will only be in the low 40s in New York City and low 30s in the suburbs.
Rain expected tomorrow
Monday is a First Alert Weather Day, focusing on the afternoon hours. The morning commute to work will be dry, but steady rain will arrive by the afternoon and continue through the evening.
There’s nothing serious about this rainstorm, but it will make for a wet ride home. Any winter consequences are very limited if mild air is present. Early on, there will be a brief period of some freezing rain well north and west of New York, mainly in Sullivan and Ulster counties. Otherwise it’s just rain.
Looking ahead
There will be clouds on Tuesday, but it will remain dry for most of the day with a sprinkle of rain or drizzle here and there. Another rain shower will follow on Wednesday night and throughout the day.
Colder air moves back in to end the week.
