While snow is possible in northern New England on Thanksgiving, Rhode Island will see rain, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.
A storm is expected to sweep through the Northeast on Thursday, bringing rain, snow and a combination of the two. New York, Vermont and Northern New Hampshire are expected to see the most snow, but some of that is still possible in parts of Massachusetts, namely the Berkshires and the Worcester Hills.
Precipitation in Providence is expected to begin around 9 a.m., according to forecasts. According to AccuWeather, heavy rain showers are possible during the day.
Providence is expected to have a high of 46 degrees and a low of 31 degrees.
Where does snow fall in New England?
If your Thanksgiving plans leave Rhode Island, you may encounter some snow.
Vermont could see up to 12 inches of heavy, wet snow, especially in the southern part of the state. The southern part of New Hampshire is expected to be mostly rainy, but as you head toward the White Mountains, you’re more likely to encounter snow.
Most of Massachusetts will be rainy, but one to two inches of snow is possible in the Berkshires. Connecticut is expected to receive rain.
The storm is expected to pass on Thursday evening.
