A swarm of bees leads to the temporary closure of the Manhattan Beach pier

A large swarm of bees prompted police to evacuate the Manhattan Beach pier on Saturday.

According to an officer who spoke with KCAL News, the bees were reported to Manhattan Beach Police Department officers around 4 p.m.

To give the bees the opportunity to leave the area on their own, the police closed the pier to the public.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

It is still unclear how long the pier will be closed.

This is a development story. Check back for more information.
