Saturday will be mostly cloudy.

It will be noticeably more humid than Friday, with a strong breeze as well. The wind gusts can sometimes reach 30 km/hour.

A few scattered showers are possible for our northwest zones, while most of the region remains dry. Highs are expected in the upper 70s and low 80s.

As we head into the night, a round of showers and storms will move across the region. This round is expected to be mostly subheavy, but heavy rain is possible.

In most locations, temperatures do not exceed 21 degrees Celsius and it is very humid.

Once that lap is over, there will be mostly sunny skies on Sunday morning. This will cause temperatures to rise back into the 90s in many areas, and with that high humidity, heat indexes will range from the upper 90s to low 100s, especially in the central and southern parts of New Jersey.

With all that heat and humidity to work with, the atmosphere will be ready for strong to severe storms to develop during the afternoon and evening hours. These storms can include damaging winds, hail, heavy rain, and even an isolated tornado.

Since there will be a tropical air mass, the storms will be able to produce copious amounts of rain, which could total 2-3 inches in some locations. This could lead to flash flooding.

Clearances and falling humidity will follow later Sunday evening in the wake of the storms.
