Police have launched a search and issued a missing and caused alert. Several of Jacob’s belongings were found in the West Twin River on Saturday evening, police said.

On Sunday morning, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources found a location in about 5 to 6 feet of water where Jacob’s body could have been. Jacob’s body was indeed recovered shortly afterwards and positively identified.

“This tragic event is a reminder of how dangerous the ice on our waterways can be, especially this time of year when it is very thin,” Two Rivers Police Capt. Andrew Raatz said in a news release. “Please stay off the ice and keep your children safe by closely monitoring them if they are near a waterway.”

Two Rivers is located on the shoreline of Lake Michigan in Manitowoc County, about 7 miles north and east of Manitowoc, and about 90 miles north of Milwaukee.
